Subteams
Each of our subteams works on a different part of the rocket. Check it out
Structures
Structures designs, simulates, and improves the outer portions of our rockets. Using technologies like CAD and 3D printing, the Structures team rapidly prototypes and integrates novel designs to break height records. Our ability to create a comprehensive design ensures that proper assembly of all subsystems and precise launch is acquired.
Propulsion
Propulsion manufactures ejection charges, solid motors, and testing apparatuses for powering RRPL's rockets and recovery systems. Currently, the team is developing in-house motor casing manufacturing capabilities, an enclosed ejection test rig, and a high-power motor thrust stand.
Recovery
Recovery designs the mechanisms that ensure our rocket separates and comes down safely. From programming the conditions for stage separation to hand-making effective parachutes, Recovery creates the necessary technology for the critical stages of the rocket’s flight.
Avionics
Avionics is a group of innovative students who are passionate about developing RPL’s flight monitoring systems. Using a combination of sensor integration, real-time data graphing, and RF engineering, we create embedded systems that can reliably collect, process, and transmit data while our rocket is in the atmosphere.
Business & Operations
Business & Operations works on projects involving finance, writing, graphic design, 3D modeling, networking, merchandise creation, and general collaboration both with members of RRPL and with influential people and alumni outside of the organization.
