RU Pilots presents the most interactive and
affordable introduction to aviation possible.
Through the immersion and realism of Microsoft
Flight Simulator, students become pilots for up to
an hour, learning to fly under the guidance of club
leads with real-life flight experience.
In addition to
simulator instruction, these leads also help
students find the best flight school for each student
and provide honest anecdotes and insights into the
aviation industry
The RU Pilots curriculum is a sample of the official
theory and practical knowledge needed to earn a
Private Pilot Certificate (also known as a Private
Pilot License). Topics range from aerodynamics to
navigation using dead reckoning.
Using the latest
version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, rudder
pedals, yoke, and throttle quadrant, students get
virtual flight lessons learning how to fly, maneuver,
and most importantly, land a Cessna 172. After the
lessons, students can try flying the F/A-18
Superhornet, Boeing 747, and the countless other
models provided by Microsoft Flight Simulator
2024.
For students who want to start flying in real
life, RU Pilots provides recommendations for flight
schools based on each student’s career goals,
finances, and personal factors. We also supply
flight training resources such as the FAR/AIM,
navigation plotters, and more!
Melanie is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering and a student pilot with over 80 flight hours on a Piper Cherokee 160. Passionate about teaching and mentorship, Melanie finds joy in helping others discover their own path in aviation
Now in her second year leading RU Pilots, she aims to build a welcoming community where future and current pilots can connect, learn, and grow together.
